Catch Me If You Can

"The painting "Catch Me If You Can" is within the context of the following ARTLIFTING collection of my watercolor paintings: "Butterfly Plaid", "Flight", "Untouched" and "Watermark", since I am using similar materials and processes. Also, I am using the recurring motif of butterflies, as in "Butterfly Plaid". The red, white and blue color scheme is similar to that used in "Watermark". In "Catch Me If You Can", we see the net pattern at first noticeable as a restriction. This is reminiscent of the grid patterns in "Flight" and "Untouched". The butterflies and dragonflies are invisible, then emerging, and then disappearing. Their flight paths implied by lines of cerulean blue and blue violet dripping paint. The mulberry red and pink net is lifting at the bottom, signaling a way through, creating an opportunity for generative life. Net and butterfly motifs are partially inspired by my study of ancient archaeology, their use on pottery and stones. Energetic blue butterflies and wavelength dragonflies are as fleeting as innovative ideas, calling out for manifestation, "Catch me if you can!""
