"These aren't palm trees, but I did have those in mind when I put together the base silouette for this image. The way they're often arrayed here and it seems one or two are always taller. The most collage-like of all the images in this collection, I think. I did cut out the silhouette tree shape and instead of trying to make it digitally-perfect, I really liked having the little bit of white cut-out visible in the final image. I feel it warms it up and also is a nice but subtle bright edge to the shapes. The inside texture are rock and some rust on a wood bridge, the color is muted rose/muted sunset color that came from a petal (though not an actual rose). It just felt right, really. I like the reach that central tree has, it feels like aspiration). Something different this time—I live in a nature reserve in Santa Cruz, there’s an amazing diversity of beauty, shapes, colors and natural processes here. I have and shot new images of this area and these are collages, composites of many of those images. They include sand, rocks, rune-like repeating patterns in the stone. Sunsets, ocean, pond, coastal shots, petals, leaves, trees."
