Woodnote

"Woodnote is inspired by the quiet moments of evening when the world begins to settle, the air cools, and the quality of light changes. In this piece, foliage causes a break in the light of the setting sun, represented by hand embroidery. I was inspired to make this piece when I learned that one of my oldest and closest friend was having her first daughter. In a year full of difficulties, this sweet baby was an unexpected bright spot. In the painting, foliage causes a break in the pink glow of setting sunset, depicted here using both a color change and hand embroidery. Symbolically, this represents the universal promise that nothing in life is all good or bad, and the moments of joy that break through hard times."
