Urban Blend

"I was thinking about how many people live in big cities and how diverse these people are. All different colors, ages, occupations, religions, economic levels and statuses live together in huge buildings that occupy that city. That’s what I am symbolizing with this piece. All shapes, colors, and textures blended to create the mass of humanity under the vastness of moonlit and starry sky. It's symbolic of how small we are in the universe yet how many people occupy so many cities on the planet. My favorite part of this technique is applying the isopropyl alcohol and waiting for the colors to blend and morph. So much fun to calculate and manipulate the flow if needed. The result of the technique develops beautifully blended organic shapes and fascinating overlaying colors. The ink was dripped from the actual ink bottle and the alcohol was dripped from a needle nose bottle in small and calculated amounts. No brushes were used in creating this piece. The city mask was applied with cut outs made with painter's tape. The background was removed with isopropyl alcohol, repainted with the sky and water and the painters tape was removed to expose the texture."
