Untitled (Misdiagnosis)

"My most recent work, titled based on the years preceding my Lyme disease diagnosis, encapsulates the arduous journey towards understanding and treatment. Each layer and path on the canvas mirrors the varied roads and tests endured before the correct diagnosis unfolded. Expressive white splatters narrate the frustrations endured throughout this prolonged process, acting as a visual timeline of my struggle. The experimentation with soak staining takes a unique turn, incorporating a base layer of almost transparent white checkers. Atop this patterned background, vibrant paths of color symbolize the diverse routes explored during the diagnostic odyssey. The black circles, akin to black holes, signify moments of defeat within this intricate narrative. This artwork serves as both a study and exploration of an alternative use of the soak staining technique. It stands as a testament to resilience, inviting contemplation on the layers of experience and the possibility of reworking one’s narrative."
