The Long Way Home
"The palette for this painting includes ochre, black, white, and grey with limited blue shades. In keeping with the limited and somewhat muted color palette, the shapes representing the “road” and the “home” are similarly minimalist and rather amorphic. A small amount of markmaking, scraping, and layering has been used to bring a bit of depth, nuance, and movement to this otherwise subtle “story." The concept of and reference to "home" is a recurrent theme in my work, and indeed seems to be a fairly universal and sometimes complicated archetype in the human experience. I find the notion of "home" to be an invigorating and endless source of creative inspiration."
