The Enchantment
"I rarely paint daytime pieces, particularly at midday. I miss the sun like a long lost lover, but my brain
starts glitching badly after about an hour of consistent bright light and then I am left exhausted. Often
having to spend the rest of the day into the next lying in the dark until I recover.
This piece was a bit of a love letter to the sun for me.In the upper window a figure gazes longingly at the
summer day, tucked away like a modern day Rupenzel. Held captive and isolated, cursed to watch the world
from afar.
I think isolation is a theme that resonates with a lot of people with visible and invisible disability. It
can be quite maddening and leave one feeling very alone sometimes.I feel with the pandemic many able people
got a taste of what this reality is like for so many people in the world."
