The Abyss

"Inspired by a memory of the Kanmangafuchi Abyss in Japan, where a riverside pathway along the river Daiya is home to countless jizo statues. It is said that counting the number of jizo along the pathway is impossible. The red french knots over Sumi ink symbolize the adornments of the iconic riverside jizo statues. This is the first in a series of works created from handmade copper ink."
