"This painting was done while I lived in Colorado for 13 months. I began the painting as a demo for a class I taught in pastel. I encountered these trees when I happened upon an old mining town named Redstone. Driving along a narrow road surrounded by aspens, I stopped to get out of my car just to listen to the rustling of leaves. This painting is part of a tree series in pastel."
