River Runs Through the Trees
"This painting was a continuation of the series using the ink process on a blank canvas and influenced by the work by Piet Mondrian. His work went from painting landscapes and using lines to create sweeping trees...to finally creating linear paintings on the basis of his earlier work. Painting minimally can be a challenge because you need to be able to know when to stop, I try to create a journey using lines, and colors for the viewer to explore. Have you ever looked through the trees in a forest? If you look up you see the branches of the trees w/the sky peeking through. When you look through the trunks of the trees you may see the stream in the background peeking behind and through the trees. My limited vision sometimes creates those kind of vision studies which I try to use as inspiration when painting this style."
