Reading is Fundamental
"This is part of a series developed in 2023 exploring access, isolation, and inclusivity—focusing on marginalized subjects in seemingly innocuous situations. Journal entries from when I was relearning how to write post-stroke are printed on acrylic fiber paste. Saturday night during Gay Pride, a group of drag performers face off against drunken revelers. In the background, people queue for entrance into Club Pluto for the show. A mural of flora covers the building on the left. Blues, greens, and violets dominate the canvas, broken by bits of orange. People stare from the upper windows. A gay pride flag hangs above the neon sign for the bar. Text embedded in the sidewalk, medical notes on sandwich board sign."
