Progress to a New Day

Zo

"I was inspired to make this art piece when I was thinking about all of the days in life that brought me to the current day and how each of those days were different in some ways and then the same in other ways. I enjoy the water, sunrises and sunsets as they bring me peace so I incorporated them into the artwork in an abstract form. Some past days are good and some are not so good but all of our past days are progress to the current day and we have the ability to be mindful and choose to make forward progress and make the most out of each day we are given. The process of making this piece began with using acrylic paint colors I chose and blending them to make the background. I then used tape and taped off squares or rectangles and painted them one by one individually and allowing dry time so that I could overlap them. The larger central rectangle was not painted last as I wanted some of the the others to run into that rectangle. I used gel medium to attach pieces of paper to give the piece texture in some areas and I used a water spray bottle to make the paint run down in some areas."
