Painterly Guadalupe River

"This artwork was created from I photograph I took of the Guadalupe River in Ingram, Texas. That is one of my favorite places to visit and I have been trying for a long time to create art of the scene that is painterly and somewhat abstract. The scene itself is rather soothing- a primarily horizontal scene of the river with beautiful horizontal trees in the background, with little movement. The lack of movement made it a little dull and I wanted to make it appear more active. Using various filters and editing methods I came up with several versions- this one is my favorite. While based on the calm river, it also has what suggests grass or tree branches swaying over the larger, more slowly moving water, land and bunches of leaves. The color contrasts also suggest subtle movement, without taking away from the overall smooth composition. I am pleased that ArtLifting selected it! It is one of my favorite new ones, based on experiments and I'm happy that these experiments received positive feedback! Now I will try some more!"
