"This is one of my mixed-media images. Water, ink, crystal-minerals. I let the minerals dissolve and crystallize, then added the liquid materials. The trick always is to capture the image while elements are still interacting/kinetic—-this process happens very fast before things turn to mud.

The name—this and another similar piece remind me a lot of nuts and bolts and industry. Like many others, the meaning for me is experimenting and capturing something that surprises me."
