Last Red Dawn

"Painted to and inspired by the song "Last Red Dawn" by Lincoln Durham. I was influenced by the esthetics of nature, mud, ground, water from a river, golden sand. The beats from the sparse drum and snare, along with the mandolin, cause the rusts, burnt orange, yellows, blues and silvers to stomp and slide around in my brain. With my bare palms, I “beat” the colors and textures onto the canvas - to the beat of the drums - forming what resembles silt on a river - which ends up hardening to look like pieces of colored slate on the canvas. The yellows represent the golden sand which would “bounce” as I pound the beat with my palms and the paint."
