Into the Unknown
"Living with ADHD I have created many systems to manage my everyday life. This is no different with my artwork- These systems in art usually manifest themselves in pieces that have a sticker-like quality with a focus on clean lines and symmetry. This painting is a unique peek into my mind when it is leaning away from it's natural instincts to create this way and allow for discomfort to take the lead. There is a sense of calm in my work that is beautiful made by allowing myself to get uncomfortable. Usually a feeling of chaos is created when I go outside of my comfort zone. I sign all my paintings with the Dying Daisy- The daisy represents how things can be beautiful despite being imperfect. Into The Unknown is inspired by my daughter Valentina Rumi Canon. She is soft and beautiful and wild which is exactly how I would describe this painting. The title is a song sung by Elsa from Frozen (Valentina's favorite) but it is also how I felt about navigating what I felt about raising a little girl."
