In My Own Backyard

"My Sculptural Series explores the profound aspects of life's journey, including obstacles, adversities, and the transitions between phases that ultimately lead to transformation, emergence, and renewal. These pieces uncover a unique beauty in repairing/constructing fractured pieces, echoing the challenges in my own life and stages of healing. A new object or being may be imperfect but is now repurposed. Furthermore, the sculptures express various juxtapositions - alter ego vs. the perceived outer image, control vs. release, intentionality vs. spontaneity, reflecting the myriad of struggles encountered by all humans. "In My Own Backyard" expresses gratitude for the simple pleasures in life, i.e., our own daily surroundings, a view or the sunshine, and being present for that partuclar moment. This stage of being or acceptance, to me, is one of the final stages of healing or rebirth."
