Garden of Dreams
"In the tradition of many artistic movements, from the surrealists to the magic realists to the abstract expressionists, I'm inclined to create an inner, sensory and spiritual landscape, when I am not able to paint or draw directly from my greatest inspiration, Mother Nature. I am also inclined to create a fantastical space, or field of light, including playful, gestural shapes, which are not static, but also not aggressive. Many expressionist painters find the need to express their wrath on canvas. For me, real life is hard enough as it is; to add an angst-ridden, inner-tumult to it is not my intent. I derive more pleasure from making art which helps me feel and express elation and peacefulness."
