Diamond in the Rough

"Texture, geometry, and bright colors! These are three of my favorite things. I have a type of synesthesia whereby the texture I can see with my eyes is conveyed to my fingertips. Adding visual texture to my pieces to "game" my senses is very satisfying. Living with neuropathy in my fingers because of MS makes this added facet in my creation a lot of fun. Also, it allows me to explain my synesthesia to others efficiently. This art incorporates a fair amount of different types of textures and I feel them all through my fingertips just by looking at them. Wild!"

- Diana de Avila
