De Modum Domun (The Way Home)
"This piece is an illustration of how my left and right sides of the brain come into play in my creative process. The analytical logic of the left commingles with the creative of the right in this piece. I think it was this duality that steered me to become an architect as architecture requires a duality of the analytical and mathematical with the creative. This is an example of my work that one might call op art though I don’t like to attach labels to my work. It also is an example of how I strive to put geometry together in new ways. Here, the square and parallelogram polygons tessellate. If you look closely you’ll notice an optical illusion. Staircases go in different directions, diagonally down and diagonally across the picture. You may not notice this at first glance but stare at the picture for a while and look for it."
