Dance in Blue
""Dance in Blue" is a freely gestural, lyrical and fanciful expression of the delight and joy of dancing, singing, moving freely and breathing deeply. Because these physical activities have proved powerful in my daily efforts to avoid chronic pain, it has become only natural to incorporate their swirling, active and sensate qualities in my art. The soft pastel is applied rigorously by hand, so that all traces of touch and movement are rendered visibly. While a graphic, cold rigidity so often permeates the calculating, strategic, profiteering, visual media of our day, I would rather offer up a playful, feminine, loosely associative and sensory-based experience, hopefully eliciting inspiration, human warmth and color-infused joy in the process."
