"Reflections of my childhood have found its way into my work. Citizens Collective is no exception. With a playfulness, I use a simple palette of black, white and red over a gold background to express interconnected abstracted personas. So much of the news of the social and geopolitical conditions in our country and around the world distresses me. Bigotry, injustice, homophobia and more seem to perpetually persist as part of the human condition. This piece is an expression of a hope for a better world, where citizens can make strong connections with each other and get along."
