Chicago
"Chicago was the first painting that I decided to try a multimedia process applying maps on a canvas. This was a very challenging process because I also used my ink drip style. This process included 2 mediums (random pieces of maps and acrylic ink shapes). I first applied the maps in random shapes and places on the canvas. The next process was applying the ink and allowing it to drip randomly. This is the time I study the shapes and use them to guide the paths and movements I feel it should go. I used minimal colors and painted shapes b/c I wanted to make sure the maps were the main focus. In 2014, Chicago was one of the first cities I went to see one of the shows where my artwork was accepted. I rec'd the jury award and sold one of my paintings. I was honored to be a part of the show and continued ever since. I was able to go to the Art Institute of Chicago and see the Bean in person. It was a very moving experience seeing all the famous artwork up close. This painting represents my art journey in Chicago that inspired me to continue creating artwork. Cannot wait to go back again."
