Cerebellum
"As part of the Save the Coral Reefs series, I wanted this painting to invite contemplation on the delicate balance between form and formlessness in nature. It highlights how the intricate patterns found in the Cerebellum structure echoes the natural geometry of coral reefs. At the same time, the fluid, ever-changing movement of the water symbolizes the formlessness beneath the ocean's surface. I used 3D paints to mimic the sashiko (Japanese embroidery) stitches for the repetitive patterns. I marbled the rice paper with soft pastel hues, then painted the sashiko (Japanese embroidery) patterns using textured 3D acrylic paints."
