"This painting, as well as "Trail to Silver Falls", was inspired by a photograph a friend took of my son on a forest trail. I continue to be interested in breaking down representational imagery into blocks and planes of color, fragmenting and then reunifying the image. For this piece I deliberately worked quickly and with older, worked-over brushes, seeking an unfinished and energetic quality to the shapes."
