Blue Umbrellas
"This is part of a series developed in 2023 exploring access, isolation, and inclusivity—focusing on marginalized subjects in seemingly innocuous situations. Journal entries from when I was relearning how to write post-stroke are printed on acrylic fiber paste. Texture is built up throughout canvas for tactile viewing for low vision persons. From the outside looking in, solitary customers sit in a bubble tea cafe. Blue umbrellas dominate the canvas top, and the windows of a cafe spill yellow light onto the sidewalk. Journal entries embedded into the umbrellas."
