"Originally an abstract painting, this work morphed into the semi-representation, surreal, quasi-cartoon you see now. My love of comic books and science fiction bled through as a space pilot, cockpit and control board began to emerge from a riot of abstract marks. Recently some of my abstract work has evolved into representational imagery as I paint it; I take in the abstract shapes and marks and detect worldly imagery lurking in the painting, waiting to come out."
