Alone in a Crowd
"This is part of a series developed in 2023 exploring access, isolation, and inclusivity—focusing on marginalized subjects in seemingly innocuous situations. Journal entries from when I was relearning how to write post-stroke are printed on acrylic fiber paste. Texture is built up throughout canvas for tactile viewing for low vision persons. The entries are repeated in enlarged braille dots and descriptors in braille are included throughout the piece. A Pride Friday night in Belltown, a crowd spills onto the street from the bars. Two men make their way down the street, one of them in a dress. Left of center, a woman stands out from the other revelers. Bright orange lights spill from the venues on the left, transitioning to blue and violets as we see dappled lights from distant buildings."
