After the Rain
"After the Rain was one of two splatter-style watercolor paintings I did a few months after having brain surgery. It was to distract myself from the pain of surgery and the traumatic and arduous recovery process. I wanted to try a technique I hadn't tried before and keep my work light and fresh. At some point in the process, I started to see myself emerging out of the storm in my own life, and the painting depicts a rebirth and a bright spring that leaves behind the cold and painful winter."
