305

"Living with ADHD I have created many systems to manage my everyday life. This is no different with my artwork- These systems in art usually manifest themselves in pieces that have a sticker-like quality with a focus on clean lines and symmetry. This painting is a unique peek into my mind when it is leaning away from it's natural instincts to create this way and allow for discomfort to take the lead. There is a sense of calm in my work that is beautiful made by allowing myself to get uncomfortable. Usually a feeling of chaos is created when I go outside of my comfort zone but this piece still holds on to some calm. 305 is a small homage to my hometown. I grew up in Miami, FL and there has always been the obvious elements that everyone knows-- high color, nightlife, and beaches. This is element exists in this painting with just the slightest shadow cast over it. This shadow represents the darker element that came with growing up in Miami as a Colombian in the 80s and 90s. I sign all my paintings with the Dying Daisy- The daisy represents how things can be beautiful despite being imperfect."
