The Pod

"The Pod was one of the acrylic ink series that I started where I was creating another layer over a painted surface (abstract) that I felt was not complete. So I started using acrylic ink over the painted surface. The next process was painting the shapes within the lines but I did not want them to cover the painted surface underneath. I began to use thinner applications of the acrylic paint which allowed the textures to show through. My brother who also had RP/Usher's syndrome was an artist who also did stained glass windows.

I loved working with him when he was putting the windows together. While creating these different transparent washes over the first layer I realized that it created the stained glass effect.

The Pod was inspired by the ocean and the songs of whales."
