House of Spirits
"This piece was created a few months after the Covid pandemic, when the city was under lockdown.
The beckoning lights from a shut downtown bar at 8pm, glittered with a warm forlornness. I often have faces
of people and pets on the windows of buildings in my pieces. As comment on the isolation many stroke
survivors live in and also to create a subconscious feeling of being watched; as in the city you are never
really alone.
However, in this piece I put faces and figures in every window, A memory of the life and activity that was
once there and a reflection of those lost during the pandemic. The works title echoes this and is also a
tongue and cheek reference to the abandoned bar. Witness to the once busy downtown street is only the viewer
and a speeding car captured in a few strokes of paint."
