Collage 1

"As with all collages, the process as well as the final product was layered. The abstract designs on the circles were made from botanical gelatin prints. I started by making a large, thin tray of gelatin that I could use as a printing plate. I then gathered plants and leaves from my yard and neighborhood, and used them to make prints. I then cut the prints into uniform circles, abstracting the designs, and assembled them into a composition that feels both solid and random. I used white rice paper for the circles and a handmade sheet of mulberry paper for the base."
