Beach Sky Inspired
"I wanted to experiment with a different medium that I had just gotten my hands on. As usual, this painting started off as an experiment. It's funny how almost every painting is first an experiment with how a group of colors work together. I sweated this one out, as it originally had a lighter blue ocean that didn't really look right. After I put in the sky, which was almost a marbling technique, I went back and created a darker ocean, darker beach (which also has sand in it), and while I had my resin mixed; I put some of the resin in a few places. I love to play with texture and this one took all summer; plus the Fall to finish. I don't normally do realism anymore, but my best friend wanted an ocean piece. I hope the original can sit in her house and if not; she will be getting a print!"
